There have been many celebrities whose image and likeness have been used to dupe the public into believing that what they are seeing is real. However, in recent events, unscrupulous people have created deepfakes of random victims, creating a digital profile that is damaging and devastating. So, why do people create deepfakes? Mainly because they can and there are very few laws prohibiting these damaging acts.
